About the New Album
For a long time after my drummer and best friend passed away, I strayed from music. I thought I'd never write again. Until one evening, after several whiskeys, I picked up my old acoustic guitar and a folk song came out. It was reminiscent of John Prine's early work (fitting as he had always been an inspiration of mine). I pulled out my phone, made a recording and entitled it "Someone Just Like You". A few days later, I did the same thing. I would try to drink away my pain, and folk songs would sort of pour out of me. After about a month, I had 15 or so "whiskey-induced" folk songs. Not long after, I was out at the Intersection and I ran into record producer and long-time friend, Michael Crittenden. He asked me what I was up to, and I told him about the folk songs I had been writing. He told me to come by the studio so he could have a listen. We ended up recording a six-song EP—my first release under the pseudonym “Edison Kitt”.
Michael and I spent the next couple of years refining and recording what would become "Whiskey Ramblings". A collection of songs that depicts where I was in life at the time. Losing friends and loved ones, self-doubt and heartbreak... but also a bit of hope for a better future.
